Love & LUSH

Lush. My guilty pleasure store.  I swear it's the scent that drags me in every time. I haven't purchased from here in a while but one of my lovely friends bought me two Lush products for Christmas! I'm so excited to try out this "Rose Jam" shower gel and this awesome bath bomb.

All of the ingredients used in Lush's handmade products are fresh and natural.  Definitely check out your local shop or shop online here for some great products. You could for sure find a great gift here for anyone who likes to unwind with a bath or just loves to smell fresh and great all day!

All Eyes on the Puffer Vest!

This season puffer vests have been all the rage! I put together this outfit to show my favorite way they can be styled. Although you may be worried about your arms being chilly in the cooler months, that's why I layered this denim chambray shirt underneath a warm knit sweater. This is a great outfit for going to class if you're a college student or even bumming around and hanging out with friends around town.  To dress up the outfit a bit more, you could easily add a cute statement necklace.  Give this look a try, it's so versatile!

A Kate Spade & Lilly Pultizer Lover's Dream

This past weekend I had an amazing opportunity to spend a night in NYC with my best friend. We had a lovely time catching up, exploring the upper east side, and obviously shopping. Two stores that really caught my eye were Kate Spade and Lilly Pultizer, both on Madison Ave.  I have always loved these two brands, but the gorgeous stores in NYC made me love them even more! I obviously took some pictures of the shops for all of my lovely readers. So enjoy the images and prepare yourself for some classy overload.

Lilly Pultizer: 1020 Madison Ave

What more can I say about this store other than it's perfect! Although Lilly is more popular and commonly worn in the warmer southern states, there's no reason a NY gal can't experiecne this brand too! I love the set up and the design of this entire store.  The women working couldn't of been more friendly and helpful! I had a great experience here and can't wait to go back soon...real soon!
Where can I purchase a card with endless amounts of money on it so I can buy everything in this store? I walked in and wanted everything.  However, all I bought was this phone case in my favorite pattern.

Kate Spade: 789 Madison Ave

This store up on Madison Ave was so beautiful!  It had three levels filled of Kate Spade galore; clothes, heels, and my favorite, the purses.  Kate Spade's bags are gorgeous and so versatile and I'm dying to get my hands on one.
Love this! I want a matching one to put on my room wall.
Kate Spade from the second floor!
If you live in the city or are taking a visit for the holidays, make sure to check out these two stores if you are in the area!  Both were so pretty and decorated flawlessly.  Even though both of these shops are a little more on the higher priced side, there's is nothing wrong with taking a peek through the shop and just looking around.  Hey, Christmas is coming soon.  Maybe if you've been good, Santa will bring you a nice Lilly or Kate Spade treat underneath your tree :)

Phillip Lim: for Target?

I was strolling through Target (what else is new) a little while ago and I came across a few fabulous Phillip Lim items for Target items.  This was not my first time seeing these items in store, but I was shocked to see them on the sale rack!  I know this line was all the rage a while ago, but when I first check out the line the prices were a bit much for me.  I could not justify spending $65 on a dress...in Target, even it was designed by Phillip Lim.  So, I made the right choice by waiting because I saw these beauties on sale.
Although I did have a great time in the dressing room trying all these items on, I did not end up purchasing anything at all! The sizes ran so big in the collection and everything I tried on just didn't fit right.  I'm usually a M/L in tops and the Small in this white top was so big on me. Definitely really nice pieces in this collection so if you are still interested make sure to check out the sale rack next time you are in you local Target.

Booties, Booties Everywhere

Boots have been a fall essential for as long as I can remember.  Riding boots have been my personal favorite for the longest time, but this season the boots have been chopped down to the ankle.  These trendy "booties" have been seen in almost every and every clothing and shoe store I've stepped foot into in the last 4 months.  Recently I popped into a Target near my University and I came across this large selection of ankle booties.

In Targets shoe department there were at least 10 different pairs and styles of booties.  These boots were relatively priced, the most expensive pair being the ones most clear in this image, $34.99. So if you are looking to try out this awesome Fall 2013 trend, yet do not want to drop $90 dollars or so on a pair, check out your local Target for a great selection!

London, Paris, Maybe Tokyo?

Dark red lips are very trendy for this fall.  As you may know I do love red lipstick but I tend to stay in my comfort zone when trying shades of red.  When I first saw this product, Buxom's Lipstick the intense, dark shade Tokyo, it scared me a little bit.  However, I did see YouTube beauty gurus Meghan Rosette and LoveLaurenElizabeth haul this product at it looked awesome on them.  So, I decided to take a step out of my makeup comfort zone and give this product a shot. Drum roll please..........
I love it very much! I think the matte finish is what really sold me with this particular product.  Also, the way this product is packaged makes it so simple to apply such a dark red color.  The pointed top makes it so easy to line the outer part of your lips to keep all the product directly on your lips and not all over your face and chin (what usually happens to me).  The packaging label also claims that this product is a lip plumper.  I did feel the fresh lip tingle that most lip plumpers have, however I did not personally notice it in my lips! This lipstick comes in a bunch of different matte colors so if you give one of them a try, let me know what you think.
P.S. I hope all you Hilary Duff fans understand my title reference :)

Sparkly Statement

Yes.  My obsession with statement necklaces continues to grow stronger and stronger each day. But this one was a great deal I could not pass it up. Last week I tweeted about the 50% off sale going on at the J.Crew factory stores.  So naturally I had to take a look to see what they had to offer.  When I saw this sparkly dream of a necklace I fell in love.
The best part of this necklace is the price.  It was originally $49.50 but with the 50% off sale and a student ID discount, this gem came to $19.99.  I know incredible right? If you have yet to check out J.Crew factory I highly recommend that you do.  You can get some awesome classic J.Crew pieces for an unbeatable price!
I also bought some other great items that I will be sharing in a future blog post, so keep your eyes open for that.

Forever Fangirling...Over Makeup

A few weeks ago I participated in a makeup chat through Laura Mercier's twitter page (@LauraMercier).  For actively participating in the chat, asking questions, etc, I received a tweet from the LM account later that day saying I had won a Caviar Stick Eye Colour for my participation! I then messaged them my address and thanked them for there kindness and generosity. They replied back (which made little ole makeup obsessed me so excited) saying that they feel it's extremely important to reward their  fans for their continuous support because they would not be anywhere without them! Two weeks later I had a small package waiting for me in my college post office.  It was like Christmas morning I was so darn excited! I opened the package to find the Caviar Stick Eye Colour in the shade Sugar Frost.  Then even before swatching the color I obviously had to have a little mini photo shoot with the product for my blog readers!
I already had high expectations for this product because I absolutely love all of Laura Mercier's products.  Also, I have been using the Caviar Stick in the shade Plum as an upper line eyeliner since July when I purchased it.  When I was done photographing the product (I know I'm crazy) I tested the color on the back of my hand and was so very pleased with the color.  This stick in Sugar Frost met all of my expectations and more.  The color payoff from the product is fantastic and sparkly. The shade goes on so smooth but it does not budge throughout the day.

Since receiving the package, I have used this shade as an all over the lid and inner corner highlighter every single day.  I could not be more happy with this product and now all I want to do is go out and buy the entire line! The pencil like packaging makes applying the product so simple and it's also perfect size to travel with and stick into a small makeup bag.   I'm in love with this product and could not be more happy.  I also want to thank Laura Mericer for the hundredth time for reaching out to me and sending this beautiful product my way. I am forever grateful and if it was possible for me to love a makeup company more then I already do, Laura Mericer takes the cake!

Tory Burch Sandal Obession

This summer I caved and purchased the Tory Burch 'Miller' Logo Sandals.  Although the price really did some damage on my wallet, I honestly have worn these babies so many times I can not even complain.  I got them in a tan color because I wanted them to be able to match everything (and they do).  The sandals can be worm with a casual outfit like jeans and a tank or they can be worn with skirts and dresses.  I'm so happy the weather has been warm here in New York because I get to extend the time that I get to wear my favorite Tory Burch sandals!  If you aren't willing to spend the money on these sandals, I have seen knock off styles in stores such as American Eagle & Marshalls.

Showstopping Red

Oh you know, just being basic and posting pictures of my freshly painted red nails.  A red nail is like a red lip, classic.  As strange as it sounds, red nails make me feel like a fancy, sophisticated lady.  With fall here I tend to put away my neon and brighter nail polishes and gravitate more towards the reds and darker nail colors.

This is one of my favorite shades of red, Essie's Russian Roulette.  So if your looking for that perfect shade definitely give this one a try! It can be bought at drugstores, Ulta, Target, etc. for about $8. Also a little secret of mine is the Revlon Colorstay Topcoat, it give the nicest, gel like finish to any nail color and helps your polish last for days!

Bottom Lash Blast

Recently I have heard a lot of talk about the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.  Being the beauty junkie I am I ran to my local Sephora and picked one up to try out.  Bold lashes is something I have always loved and wear on a daily basis, so that was my reasoning for trying this product out.
Although this Clinique product was only $10, it was not as fabulous as I thought it was going to be.  It came in the tiniest bottle, third small silver packaging in the picture above.  The wand is also super small and the formula is very wet, which makes the product slightly harder to apply.  I never really had any issues using my regular, everyday mascara on my bottom lashes, but I gave this product a chance and wanted to let you know about it. So no, I do not regret buying this product and I will continue using it, but if you were thinking about getting this I recommend saving your $10 and simply put it towards another product you have been eyeing!

Hurry! Fabulous Sephora 500 Point Prize Perk

I’m the type of girl who wants the most bang for her buck. Even when it comes to choosing free Sephora samples, I’m that girl who waits until the most perfect Beauty Insider 500 point prize perk is available.  Last weekend when I stepped up to the register of my favorite store (Sephora), the makeup gods came down and shined light down upon the 500 point prize.  This beautiful, fantastic Laura Mercier mini makeup set.  Laura Mercier is and will always be one of my favorite makeup brands and when my eyes set this set, I just could not resist this prize perk.

Beauty insider prize: Laura Mercier
This makeup set came with a mini set of face polish, face primer, tinted moisturizer, a red shimmery lip gloss and a loose face powder with a small fan brush.  It was all so packaged beautifully and so pleasant to the eye I couldn’t resist.  I was more than overjoyed to come home that night and open up my makeup set.  The tinted moisturizer is a product I have used in the past and I am excited to try out this lighter shade for the upcoming fall and winter season.  The small lip gloss is also perfect size to throw into a purse for everyday wear. It is also a perfect, non- sticky consistency which is a great thing. So my point to this blog post is if you have more than 500 Sephora points built up, close down your laptop and sprint over to the nearest Sephora and pick up this set right now.

Steal of the Century!

Being the girly girl that I am, I love my staple bold, chunky necklaces.  Since they are usually costume jewelry and more trendier pieces I can never bring myself to spend more than $20 on a single necklace.  Over the past few seasons I have been obsessing over the infamous "Bubble Necklace" JCrew released a while back. I immediately fell in love with the necklace, but could not bring myself to go out and drop $125-$150 dollars on it.  The amount of times I looked in the mirror at an outfit and said "Wow this outfit could really use a bubble necklace" is actually insane. So over this past weekend while perusing through Charlotte Russe, a store I rarely walk in to, my eye was immediately drawn to this knock off JCrew bubble necklace. I was honestly so amazed by the quality and similarity between this necklace and the original JCrew one. I fell in love with this necklace even more when I looked at the price tag, $12.99! So I picked up two, one in off-white and one in coral.  You just can not go wrong with this price and when you find something you love, you buy it in every color right?

Moral of the story is, pop your head into stores you would never think about shopping in.  You may just leave with a smile on your face and a big ole bag of goodies.  And just when you think it can't get any better, if you are a college student, Charlotte Russe offers a 10% discount on your purchase with a valid student ID! So pop in and check out your closest Charlotte Russe ASAP for this amazing deal!

50 Shades of RED

Red lips have been a beauty staple ever since I remember picking up my first issue of Teen People & Seventeen Magazine when I was in the sixth grade.  Although the shades of red change with the time and season, the bold, sophisticated look you get when you swipe on a new red lipstick will forever be the same.

Red lips can simply change an entire look and they're the easiest way to transition your look from day to night.  Summertime is all about the bright, flirty shades of red lips.  But, with the fall season creeping up on us it's time to dust off the packaging and bring the deep dark red shades back into our everyday makeup routines. My absolute favorite red lip for fall is Revlon's Lip Butter in Red Velvet. It is the creamiest most perfect lip stick ever created. I've worn this lip color last fall more days than not and I'm ready to do it all over again.

Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet (Shade 40)
A good red lip make us women feel so very sophisticated and ready to conquer the world, even if we are really just going to dinner with the girls! And nothing, I mean nothing is more sexy, confident and yells "Hello world I am ready for you" more than a red lip. The next combination of lip colors are the perfect formula to a bright, yet acceptable shade of red that is truly perfect for any time of the year.
+  MAC's Ruby Woo=

Apply a layer of Mac's Ruby Woo and follow it up with the Stila lip glaze in Fantasy for this beautiful lip combination.

Under Cover

There's nothing like waking up in the morning with a large (unwanted) red pimple on your face. To many of us women, this always seems to happen on important days such as a job interview, a wedding party, first date, etc. There is nothing worse than doing your make up and trying to cover up a large crater on your face which in reality many people wouldn't even notice. We all have those days where we wish we had a professional make up artist in our house to quickly come and cover up the problem area on our faces or in my case I wish I could walk out in public wearing a (cute) ski mask. However, I have discovered two life saving products that can hopefully save you on whatever your "big day" may be.

Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up Concelaer
I have recently been loving Benefits "Fake Up". It has a creamy consistency with a moisturizing, clear rim surrounding the actual cover up color product. It blends so beautifully into my skin and works well with my current BB cream.  It's a perfect under eye and all over spot concealer that can be purchased at Sephora for $24.

Sonia Kashuk's Hidden Agenda
Another one of my favorites is the Sonia Kashuk hidden agenda concealer pallet.  This product is an awesome cheaper alternative that can be purchased at Target for about $10. The great thing about this concealer is that it comes in three different shades and a small powder, which makes it a great all year product. When you lose you golden goddess summertime tan you do not have to worry about going out and purchasing another concealer to match your skin tone because there is a lighter shade in this palette. It's easy to apply, you can use your fingers but personally I like to use a small concealer brush to really cover upo and set the concealer in.

Polka Dots & Pearls

There's no better way to transition from summer to fall then with some fun patterns.  This season I have been loving the polka dot trend!

This fun collared polka dot top is from Nordstrom BP. The pearl and silver bracelet was purchased from American Eagle Outfitters. This outfit is a very affordable way to stay chic in this back to school season.

V.I.B Very Important Beauty Insider

Doesn't everybody love free stuff? If you happen to be a beauty junkie like myself, there is no question about it, you should be a member of Sephora's free Beauty Insider club. Each time you make a purchase in a Sephora store you give them your card and rack up your points.  When you reach a certain amount of points you become eligible to receive free (and sometimes deluxe) beauty samples.  I myself have worked my way to become a V.I.B aka a very important beauty insider.  Last summer while receiving my shiny new silver V.I.B card it made my day. Okay lets be honest it made my month. By being a member you get some really awesome perks.

For example in the beginning of the summer I received this awesome mini set from Benefit which included their BADgal Lash mascara, sugarbomb lip gloss, and sun beam highlighter. I got an email saying I had this reward ready and available for me and even though I went into Sephora a day earlier then this set was available, the woman that helped me check out was super nice and still gave me the Benefit reward anyways!

The sugarbomb lip gloss is a beautiful nude color and is not sticky at all. Sticky lip glosses are one of my biggest beauty pet peeves. Sunbeam is a product I have been wanting to try for so long, so I was so glad it came in this set.  This summer when my skin was tanner then usual this was a great cheek highlighter.  If you like a glowy, dewy skin look, this product is definitely something you should check it out. So what are you waiting for? Next time you sto by Sephora make sure to sign up for their awesome beauty rewards program. You will not be disappointed!

Pinterest made me do it.

Recently I've been spending way too much time on this site called "Pinterest".  I am 99.9%  pretty sure that many of you heard about Pinterest, but if you haven't, I strongly suggest that you never, ever log on because once you start "pinning", you seriously will not be able to stop.  For those who have never stumbled upon a Pinterest page I will try to explain it to you in less than 140 characters. Pinterest is a beautiful, addicting, colorful place filled with inspiring posts and pictures for just about ever category of life.  Now if you are asking yourself "what's so great about that". Then continue reading on.  If you were so interested and excited by my lovely explanation and logged onto Pinterest at this very moment. Then enjoy the rest of your night (life) pinning away.

Sometimes I ask myself why is this particular website so appealing? So I have recently created a list pinpointing exactly all of the reasons why I love Pinterest oh so very much.

Reason One: Pinterest is unique. It's one of the few social media that allows people to pass time with out scrolling through our "friends" personal issues and pictures on other sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Sure, you have followers on Pinterest, but the individuals who choose to follow you are ones who enjoy the a lot same things as you. Therefore, you feel like some sort of fashion expert or crafting connoisseur when random women start following your style and DIY (do it yourself) boards.

Reason Two: Everything is just so neat organized and just right from your face.  If only one could reach into the computer screen and grab everything. It's so appealing, the gorgeous outfits, the awesome beauty tips, the inspiring quotes, delicious meals & the fun workout routines we all pin but let's be honest we never really do.

Reason Three: Everything inside your Pinterest is free. When I see something online I pin it to one of my boards I feel like I'm pinning it to my personal cyber closet. Oh you like these shoes, I own them... well on Pinterest. It's like retail therapy, but without the shocking credit card bills at the end of the month.

Reason Four:  Lastly, Pinterest gives you so many great ideas that you probably would of never thought of with your own brain. It unlocks these brilliant ideas, tricks, and tips that make you feel like Superwoman when you show a friend. When I asked a friend for her take on Pinterest she said "It's a place where secrets are answered. The secret to the perfect curl, the secret to the perfect chocolate chip cookies, the secret to getting the perfect look. Women love finding out secrets, therefore we love Pinterest". From her mouth to the Pinterest gods ears.
So what I'm really trying to say is that if I could live inside of Pinterest, I would. It's my heaven on a laptop screen. Thank you Pinterest, for giving me so many ideas and helping me start almost every conversation these days with "so I saw this thing on Pinterest..."

Calling All Nail Polish Aholics!

So I know for a fact that I am not the only girl out there who is absolutely obsessed with nail polish. Over the years my collection has grown from one single box to an entire Target container filled with every color of the rainbow! However I also know I'm not the only one who cringes every time they go out and purchase a $7 or $8 bottle of nail polish. So I have condensed my collection and put together a list of some of my all time favorite summer nail polish colors.

Essie's Fiji: My favorite opaque, light pink color. This shade is great for a polished manicure look.

Essie's Mint Candy Apple: Another opaque and great soft blue-green color. Personally I feel like a deep sea mermaid when I wear colors like this one in the summertime.
China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy: A bright pink color with orange tones. This polish is my favorite to wear on my toes!
Although these higher-end nail polishes are great, some of my favorite colors have come from the Revlon ColorStay Collection, available for about $6 in any drugstore. Some of my favorite shades include Costal Surf, Buttercup, and Red Carpet.
