2013 Fashion Forecast

In the beginning of each year I love to think about clothing styles for the next winter, spring, summer, and fall.  2013 is sure to be filled with new exciting styles, patterns, colors, etc...

1. Since we are already in winter I have a pretty good idea of what the rest of the season will look like. Similarly to the past, I've seen a lot of winter riding boots.  Combat boots and Doc Martens are also very popular this season.  Chunky knit sweaters and warm woolly scarves have been and will continue to be worn my many during these cold winter months.  During those super chilly nights out many people reach for super heavy snow coats,  peacoats and this winter I have seen more and more twill parka jackets like the one pictured to the left.

2. Spring and summer 2013 are looking as bright as ever.  I think neon colors and crazy floral patterns are going to be popular during the warm months.  Last summer high waisted shorts made a comeback and I think this year they are going to be more popular than ever.  Sundresses are my favorite clothing for the summer so I'm excited to see the new styles and patterns that are in stores this year.

3.  Last but not least is my favorite season, fall!  In the fall time I love wearing browns and other warm colored clothing.  This fall I think military green and maroon are going to be very popular.  Again riding boots become a staple in any fall wardrobe. I also love the fall because it is cold enough outside to whip out all the scarves that have been waiting to come out and be worn!

Leggings: Yay or Nay?

Ladies and gentlemen it's that time of year again, legging season.  Yes they may be so comfortable and make your average, semi toned butt look better than usual but let's be real girls.  No pair of jeans, jeggings, leggings, cargos, khakis, trousers or yoga pants are ever going to give you that Kim Kardashian booty.

YAY!
Yes, there is definitely an appropriate time and place to pull off the leggings look.  This will work much better if you have a thick pair of well fitted leggings to style.  Leggings are so easy to style and extremely comfortable and if done so correctly, I think it is okay to wear them as pants.  While wearing leggings ones bottom should be covered by some some of  long shirt, sweater, or jacket.  There are a ton of patterned. colored and textured leggings out there so find a pair that suits you well and work it.

NAY.
There is nothing I hate more than a female wearing a pair of thin leggings that stretch out and show their entire bare bottom or panties when they bend over.  As I said earlier when wearing leggings your bottom should be covered, camel toes and wedgies are not cute.  That's why cropped tops and leggings are a big no-no! I think that is the reason many people think leggings are trashy and should not be worn as pants.  Remember to be classy ladies.  You're wearing leggings to look cute and comfy, not to show off your behind...Okay well maybe to show off a little ;)

Rewind! Top Trends of 2012

Happy New Year everybody! 2012 was a year filled with many new and fabulous fashion trends. I'm so excited to see what new styles are brought to the table in 2013!

1. In 2012 I've seen every shade of the rainbow styled in a pair of jeans.  Personally, this trend brings me right back to the middle school hallways seeing all the punk-rock kids wearing colored jeans, a band tee, and a pair of Chuck Taylors.  However, I do think if they are styled correctly they can be pulled off!  Some stores such as The Gap and American Eagle carried some softer, paler colored jeans this past spring which happened to be some of my favorites.

2. High-low hemlines were very popular this past spring and summer.  A change to the basic skirt and sundress made for a very chic and trendy look.  Dresses and skirts of this style could be found in a variety of stores and price ranges.  Bloomingdale's had beautiful dresses with this cut and yet I also saw skirts like this being sold in Target! Where ever you shopped in 2012 I'm more than sure you came across high-low styled clothing.

3. In the world of accessories I think the most popular trend this year was the statement necklace.  These big, bold, colorful necklaces dress up and spiced up any basic, boring, outfit.  In particular, the J.Crew "Bubble Necklace" got a lot of attention this year.  Once again necklaces of this style could be found in many different stores, boutiques, mall kiosks, and small online shops on Etsy.
