And the Golden Globe Goes to...Emilia Clarke

Okay, so Emilia Clarke may not of won an award tonight but she sure did steal the spotlight on the red carpet. Wow, the Game of Thrones actress look so stunning in this Proenza Schouler that was fitted to her body to perfection.  The dress was a black and white guipure (heavy embroidered lace) gown with a rounded sweetheart neckline. This is one of those dresses that I wish I could see (touch and wear) in person. Is that weird? Did anyone else have the urge to reach through the television and touch the fabric of this gown? No..just me. Ok, moving on. Since the dress was so beautiful and was the main focus for Miss. Emilia, she went with simple accessories.  And by simple I mean Chanel jewels.  The minimal hair and makeup just pulled this look together so flawlessly. Well done!

2014 — A Year to Shine

Put a smile on and flash your pearly whites. There are so many reasons to be happy.  Newsflash —if you are reading this you are in fact alive and breathing, something that you shouldn't take for granted. First things first, if you are reading this, already consider yourself lucky because you are privileged enough to have either a computer, laptop, smartphone or maybe all three!

I've realized that life is too short to worry about the smallest, simplest, tiniest things. Live your life the way you want.  If you are happy, then nothing else matters.
In 2014, don't feel guilty for taking care of yourself.  Sometimes you need a good mani/pedi to take an hour or so to relax and just feel good about yourself. If you want a hair cut, go get one. If you need a facial, go get one.
In 2014, do and wear what makes you feel good. Dress for yourself and wear what makes you happy. If wearing bold makeup makes you feel beautiful, wear it.  If wearing no makeup at all makes you feel beautiful, don't wear any. You're not "hiding" anything about yourself by wearing makeup. Make up doesn't cover up a personality, it just makes you feel more comfortable in your skin. Make yourself feel confident and beautiful this year, like you're ready to conquer the world. And don't let anybody stop you or tell you otherwise.
In 2014, Be the best person you can be. Be the person that you would want to be friends with.  Look in the mirror and think about if you would befriend somebody like yourself. If the answer is yes, great for you but if not, it's not too late to change that.
In 2014, Love and learn to love yourself. You are the only version of you there is. If you can't love yourself how do you expect anyone else to love you? Love the people you surround yourself with. Be grateful for the people in your life. If that means you have two amazing friends or twenty five great friends, make sure to let them know how much they mean to you. Surround yourself with people who inspire you to be the best you can be. “Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need. People who genuinely care. They are the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through." Although you cannot hand pick your family... you can decide the relationships you have with them.  Love your family; mom, dad, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc. As much as they might drive you crazy, blood is thicker than water, remember that.
In 2014, Stop worrying about what other people think of you. This is something that I know I struggle with because I know I can be the biggest people pleaser at times.  I do things that I do not necessarily want to do, simply because I'm scared of hurting other peoples feelings and I worry that they won't like me. 2014 is the year of no fear. Understand that and ingrain it into your brain.  It may take time, but if you let your worries go you'll be happier in the long run.
In 2014, Live in the moment. Enjoy life as it is today. Yes, the future is bright but their is always going to a future. Live in the preset and live today like its your last day on Earth. Stop constantly looking for something bigger & better in the future, whether that may be two weeks or two years. So sit back and enjoy life today.
In 2014, Smile...because you can and because there are so many beautiful reasons to.
So stop and take another second to breathe and think about your life. If you are unhappy about something change it.  You hold the power to determine your destiny. Don't take life for granted. Life is short, so view every breathing, living moment you have this year as a lucky one.

Let's Get...Naked

Keep your clothes on ladies- I'm talking about Urban Decay's  new Naked 3 eye shadow palette. I must of been a good girl this year because Santa left this nicely wrapped up under my tree. Unlike the Naked and Naked 2 these shadows all lean towards the pinkier side of the color spectrum. In my opinion, Naked 1 and 2 contained very, very similar colored brown and grey shadows. To me, this is the best Naked palette thus far! It contains great variety of natural shadows that can be used on an everyday basis. It even came with a great double sided brush that works excellent with the shadows.

To get a matte, natural look use the colors Limit on the lid, Nooner in the crease and Strange as a highlight. To darken and deepen the shadows more a darker look, blend Factory into the crease and Blackheart in the outer corner.  The more time you spend blending out the shadows, the smokier the look will be! To purchase this palette, check out your local Sephora or Ulta! Although it's a bit pricey ($52) if you splurge you won't be disappointed!

Winter Wonderland: Mad for Plaid

Although the holidays are over and the new year has begun, festive plaid and holiday bows are still adorable.  Plaid is definitely one of my top favorite trends for this 2014 winter season.  Pair it with a statement necklace like the one pictured below and you are all set and ready to go!
Holiday bow cuteness! Who says Christmas decorations can't be hair accessories?

Love & LUSH

Lush. My guilty pleasure store.  I swear it's the scent that drags me in every time. I haven't purchased from here in a while but one of my lovely friends bought me two Lush products for Christmas! I'm so excited to try out this "Rose Jam" shower gel and this awesome bath bomb.

All of the ingredients used in Lush's handmade products are fresh and natural.  Definitely check out your local shop or shop online here for some great products. You could for sure find a great gift here for anyone who likes to unwind with a bath or just loves to smell fresh and great all day!

All Eyes on the Puffer Vest!

This season puffer vests have been all the rage! I put together this outfit to show my favorite way they can be styled. Although you may be worried about your arms being chilly in the cooler months, that's why I layered this denim chambray shirt underneath a warm knit sweater. This is a great outfit for going to class if you're a college student or even bumming around and hanging out with friends around town.  To dress up the outfit a bit more, you could easily add a cute statement necklace.  Give this look a try, it's so versatile!

Sweater: American Eagle

A Kate Spade & Lilly Pultizer Lover's Dream

This past weekend I had an amazing opportunity to spend a night in NYC with my best friend. We had a lovely time catching up, exploring the upper east side, and obviously shopping. Two stores that really caught my eye were Kate Spade and Lilly Pultizer, both on Madison Ave.  I have always loved these two brands, but the gorgeous stores in NYC made me love them even more! I obviously took some pictures of the shops for all of my lovely readers. So enjoy the images and prepare yourself for some classy overload.

Lilly Pultizer: 1020 Madison Ave

What more can I say about this store other than it's perfect! Although Lilly is more popular and commonly worn in the warmer southern states, there's no reason a NY gal can't experiecne this brand too! I love the set up and the design of this entire store.  The women working couldn't of been more friendly and helpful! I had a great experience here and can't wait to go back soon...real soon!
Where can I purchase a card with endless amounts of money on it so I can buy everything in this store? I walked in and wanted everything.  However, all I bought was this phone case in my favorite pattern.

Kate Spade: 789 Madison Ave

This store up on Madison Ave was so beautiful!  It had three levels filled of Kate Spade galore; clothes, heels, and my favorite, the purses.  Kate Spade's bags are gorgeous and so versatile and I'm dying to get my hands on one.
Love this! I want a matching one to put on my room wall.
Kate Spade from the second floor!
If you live in the city or are taking a visit for the holidays, make sure to check out these two stores if you are in the area!  Both were so pretty and decorated flawlessly.  Even though both of these shops are a little more on the higher priced side, there's is nothing wrong with taking a peek through the shop and just looking around.  Hey, Christmas is coming soon.  Maybe if you've been good, Santa will bring you a nice Lilly or Kate Spade treat underneath your tree :)
