✿Spring Time Hairstyle✿

Here is one of my favorite ways I've been styling my hair lately.  I first curl my hair with a 1.5" wand and then I do a thick dutch braid and secure it with bobby pins to get my hair out of the front of my face. Try it out and tell me what you think!

NYC College Fashion Week 2014

Last night I attended Her Campus' College Fashion Week 2014 at the Santos House in New York City! The night started off with a photos in front of a step & repeat followed by a visit to booths of the events amazing sponsors including European Wax Center, Tresemme, bareMinerals, Simon Premium Outlets and boohoo.com!
After visiting all the booths, exploring the brands, getting my brows vamped up by the ladies of the European Wax Center, it was time for the show to finally begin! There were so many amazing styles that the models rocked on the runway, it was hard to pick a favorite look! Below was one of my favorite outfits, particularly I love the metallic midi skirt pictured below (click here for a better look at the gorgeous piece).  This is an adorable piece that can be a staple for your fall wardrobe.  If we are really planning ahead here, this metallic skirt would be perfect for a New Year's Eve night out. If you want to check out more styles visit boohoo.com for more fashion and looks that were featured in the Her Campus College Fashion Week 2014!

After the event wrapped up, on our way out we received a goody bag filled with samples and treats from the events amazing sponsors.  All in all, the event was a huge success and I hope to return next year for NYC College Fashion Week 2015!

Soft Waves for Fall

Each year I switch back and forth between straight or curly hair being my go to favorite hairstyle. Since ,y hair is naturally wavy, everyday I either reach for my curing iron or the straightener.  This Fall, I've been favoring the curing wand. Yup, I am loving waves for this fall.  I use a Sultra one inch curling wand that I purchased from Sephora a few years ago.  I always use a Tresemme heat protectant ($4 at Target) before I use the wand to protect my hair from any damage the wand can do.  Personally, I justify using heat on my hair in the Fall and Winter.

Braided Twist on a Classic Ponytail

1. Begin with a normal high ponytail.  This look works best with straight, smooth hair.
2. Grab two sections of hair from each side of the pony and braid them all the way to the bottom. Secure the braids with a clear elastic.
3. Begin wrapping the braids around the main portion of the ponytail. Criss cross them to make a fun and unique pattern.
4. When you get to the bottom of both braids, gather all of the remaining hair and again secure it with a clear elastic.
5. Top it off with some hairspray and you're good to go!

My Favorite Products of May

NYX Shadow Stick: This easy to apply shade in "Flushed" is great to wear on it own or to layer with shadows to last all day.
Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow & Brush: Similar to the NYX stick, this cream shadow in the shade "Beach Bronze" doesn't crease and keeps my shadows in place all day. The Bobbi Brown Brush just gives you a little more control when applying the product.
Nailpolish: OPI Sweetheart, a gorgeous natural nude/pink color.
Real Techniques Fluffy Powder Brush: I started using this brush again for powder and I forgot how fabulous it was.
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturing Hair Cream: I hate using heat on my hair in the warmer months, so I turn to products like this one to tame and fix up my naturally wavy hair.
Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Balm: This product gives the best "your lips but better" color. Great for a natural makeup summer day.
Tarte Eyelash Curler: I finally upgraded from my broken $1 Elf eyelash curler to this perfect tool. Let me just say my lashes have been on point this past month and it was definitely worth the money.

Monday Spotlight: Kate Hudson at the 2014 Oscars

Okay so I may be playing favorites because the beautiful Kate Hudson has been my favorite actress since she played the hilarious Andie in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" alongside last nights best actor winnter Matthew McConaughey.  However, Kate looked absolutely stunning at the Oscar red carpet last night. She was decked out in an Atelier Versace dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, a Versaceclutch and Neil Lane jewels.

Hudson's low cut gown was so gorgeous and had fabulous beading all over the shoulders and down the top section of her gown. She kept her hair simple with loose curls and for makeup she rocked a smokey eye.  Hudson nailed it over the head this year with this flawless put together!
